InDICEs Bootcamp

Doctor in Sociology from the University of Exeter, DEA in Philosophy from the University of Seville and MA in Political Science from Arizona State University. He is coordinator of Tecnopolítica.net at IN3/UOC and co-founder of Heuristica.barcelona. He studies the multiple connections between technology, politics and society, from the platforming of social movements, the public sphere, political parties or the state to the socio-technical construction and governance of data and digital infrastructures. He does so at the intersection between academic research, technological development, social innovation and political action. He has been a Fulbright scholar, has participated in projects such as Decidim, Decode or D-cent, and has collaborated with media outlets such as El Salto, Eldiario.es, El Periódico or La Vanguardia.

Emanuele Cozzo got his degree in Physics at the Sapienza University of Rome. He got his PhD in complex systems and networks at the BiFi / University of Zaragoza. He is currently developing his research activity at the University of Barcelona in the ClabB research group and at UOC in the Tecnopolítica and CNSC research groups, interested in the modeling and analysis of multilayer networks and in computational social sciences. He is co-founder of Heuristica, an extitutional laboratory for research, training and mediation based on techno-scientific practices and knowledge.

Hayfaa Chalabi is a dataviz expert, illustrator and storyteller interested in the role of illustration to re-contextualise narratives, to raise awareness about different socio-political issues, histories, and discussions. She graduated with a BFA in Visual Communication + Change from Linnaeus University – Kalmar, Sweden and an MFA in Visual Communication from Konstfack – Stockholm, Sweden.

Ivana is the General Directress of DataGénero, a Data Observatory with Gender Perspective, located in Argentina. She is a data scientist and analyst, and expert in technological inclusion with education. Using Python, she develops code with focus on data about social issues and data justice. She also teaches courses in programming, robotics and mentors teachers and students.

Nicole McNeilly is Impact Advisor at Europeana. She is a cultural researcher, evaluator, facilitator, advisor and project manager. Her expertise includes: music, cultural education, heritage, broader arts and culture and creative industries, with a significant European network.

Platoniq is a collective of allied designers, researchers, makers, and techies with experience in social change and civic engagement. Create participatory processes and tools for participation with the lens of design and data justice that interweave the concerns and impact on the most adversely affected to engage more meaningful and inclusive participation. Olivier Schulbaum is the head of RD at platoniq, Creativity and Democracy.

Oyidiya Oji Palino is leading a Task Force in the inDICEs Bootcamp. She is a data scientist and analyst, AI ethics expert and activist at Catàrsia and All Tech is Human. She is working with Espai Societat Oberta and other civic organizations in Barcelona.

Pablo Aragón is a research scientist at the Wikimedia Foundation and an adjunct professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His research focuses on understanding social and political phenomena through the analysis of data from the Internet. He is particularly interested in characterizing online participation in civic technologies, the online network structures of grassroots movements and political parties, and the technopolitical dimension of networked democracy. Pablo is also a board member of Decidim, and co-founder of the Democratic Innovation Lab of Barcelona and the DatAnalysis15M research network.

Thais Ruiz de Alda is a technology strategist. Graduated in Law (Universitat de Barcelona), she continued her studies with a postgraduate degree in sociology (Pompeu Fabra) and a PhD in politics (Pompeu Fabra). She is an expert in communication and digital media, and has previously joined projects such as leading the digital strategy in the Barcelona City Council, launching a webdoc production company and launching the first webdoc in Spain. Lately she is CEO of a technology consultancy. She is also committed to digital rights and digital commons activism and Gender and Technology activism, and has founded Digitalfems, an NGO to promote women in the fields of technology and digital technology. She is a Regular contributor to different collectives such as Liquen Data Lab, Dimmons and Metadecidim.
